My family went there for lunch on a Saturday. My husband is from Peru so he is familiar with the cuisine. There was one waitress for the restaurant so she was pretty busy with 4 tables when we came in, and 2 more groups came in afterwards. I would say service was quick and the wait time reasonable. The waitress spoke mainly with my husband in Spanish but she did speak in English to the rest of us when necessary. Not very friendly by Western stds but my husband did not find her rude just business like. The food was quite good but a bit on the salty side esp. arroz con pollo & the fried fish. The best dish was ceviche mixto and of course Tamales Peruano. We ordered quite a few dishes 5 main (avg $15), 3 side ($6), 1 Pisco Sour $8 (delicious), 2 ice cream (expensive $7ea-not worth it) and a jug of Chicha Morada $12 (purple corn juice which was surprisingly good). The total was $125 plus add HST and tip so even lunch can be pricey. If you stick to water & no dessert then it averages to $18 a person. I'd definitely go back again but at lunch when it's not too busy.
I just had the most amazing lunch dish at this restaurant. I really, really highly recommend the shrimp chowder with the poached egg. This was my first foray into a Peruvian restaurant and I relied on the staff (lovely) to advise me. Excellent and I will go out of my way to return to this venue if I am even remotely close at meal time.
I love Peruvian food and for 10 years have been looking for a decent option around the Toronto area. I have been to Boulevard Cafe in Toronto, some other one on Queen St that closed years ago and Machu Picchu a couple of years ago. That last time I promised not to go back. A friend made me change my mind last weekend. "They brought a new chef from Peru", he said. So I tried it again, to my delight. The place is still in the industrial corridor of Oakville in between body shops appliance repair stores. And inside it still looks like it was designed on a budget. By the way I have never been a fan of soccer matches as a background for my meals. But the staff was nice. The menu has not changed, and who wants it to change. Classical Peruvian fare. We ordered chupe de camaron, lomo saltado, mar de copas, tequenos and some more appetizers I can't remember. Everything was delicious. The ceviches in the mar de copas were remarkably fresh and flavourful. I don't like octopus but this one was amazing, in an oliva flavoured mayo. The tequennos were nice and crunchy. The chupe was to die for. My wife had the fish of the day, mahi mahi with shrimp sauce and a side of mashed potatoes and artichokes. Wow. All in all the food was fantastic. This time around. The bill came in at about $50 per person including cheap, which is justifiable because we also had a couple of pisco sours. As long as the restaurant keeps this new chef I am going back!
liked the atmosphere. the menu selection is quite large with some really interesting items. really authentic. very tasty. service is a bit slow, but generally ok. you just have to be a bit patient.
This is the best Peruvian Restaurant i went to. The chef prepares every serving fresh and i didn't wait long for my food like some restaurants maybe about ten minutes i was very impressed with the taste of my food because it was fresh and very well seasoned.
GOOD FOOD, GOOD SERVICE AND VERY NICE ATMOSPHERE. THANK YOU FOR SERVING GREAT FOOD IN THE TOWN OF OAKVILLE. I WOULD RECOMMEND IT TO ALL MY FAMILY AND FRIENDS.
Let’s start off by saying, if you have nowhere to be & have a lot of time to wait, this might be a good place to eat. While driving home from Toronto we stopped in Oakville & came across what looked to be a good choice to eat dinner @ 6:45pm. We walked in and were seated almost right away. We asked for water & the waitress said she would be back with it & menus shortly. 6:50pm she came back with menus & no water. At this point things seem normal, right? When she came back 10 min's later to take our order, still no water or drinks. This is where things changed. She took our food order, returned with a pitcher of water & 3 glasses. 8:10pm (1 hour 10 min's). We have not seen our food or waitress. The waitress did not return. We sat with an empty pitch, which was once filled with water. Between the three of us we discussed leaving without saying a word. Instead I walked over to the waitress and asked "how much longer is this going to take?”. I was told “another 15 min's”.... really? In disgust we asked for our food to go. After paying we still had to wait to receive our food. Only to find out one of us did not get a dinner that was ordered. That’s right the waitress did not order everything we asked for, then argued that we did not order it. Let’s just say WE WILL NEVER VIST THIS RESTAURANT AGAIN & WE SUGGEST YOU DON’T WASTE YOUR TIME. Spend your money where it is appreciated, because they obviously do not.
I have been at Machu Picchu Restaurant in different occasions and service is very friendly. It's not a pub to go to have drinks, it's a Peruvian restaurant. Atmosphere is very nice, neat. It's not the greatest location but the important part is the food. I never had any problem with the cutlery, dishes are very nice and modern. Those square ones that are in fashion. We have ordered ceviche (fish, squid, conchas negras) This is the greates ceviche in the Toronto, Ontario area that I've ever tried! Empanadas, lomo saltado, aji de gallina are really good. Don't miss the pisco sour!! just great. I want to go back on Peru Day. I would recommend this Peruvian Restaurant to anyone. I consider it the best Peruvian Restaurant in my 25 years in Canada.
THE BEST EXPERIENCE HAVING PERUVIAN FOOD, THE SEAFOOD SOUP WAS DELICIOUS, THE JALEA AND LOMO SALTADO WERE EXTREMELY TASTY, THE SERVICE WAS GOOD AND FRIENDLY, AND THE BAND WAS SO GOOD AS WELL AS THE ATMOSPHERE. I STARTED TO RECOMMEND IT TO MY FRIENDS.

We were extremely disappointed. Customer service was horrendous, we were treated as if our patronage was un-needed. We were a party of two, water was not served until requested AFTER the meal, and only one glass was brought out. Utensils had old food encrusted, and the empanadas we ordered were cold and dry. The side as described in the menu never arrived and instead we recieved half a lime in a ceramic container. We will most certainly never visit again, and will definitely not recommend this restaurant to anyone. Steer clear !
