Mcnies Fish & Chips

We decided to go to McNies on a Saturday for lunch. We were greated by a very pleasant woman who would be our server. Our food arrived quickly and was great, the fish was nicely battered (not too heavily battered but not skimpy either). The service was also great, my boyfriend decided to get extra fries with his meal and our server told the kitchen to start them while we were eating so that when he was ready to eat them they would still be warm.

Only do Battered Fish

As our usual Fish and Chip shop was closed for holidays we thought we would try McNies. Big mistake! You can only get battered fish, we were informed they don't have a griller to grill the fish. The fries were soggy. 8/10 for their Garden Salad though, nice and crispy. They lost two points though for a few brown bits on the lettuce. Sorry but although your restaurant was recommended, we won't be back. Although the staff were pretty efficient, they were not very friendly.

Good Stuff

Got the $5.95 lunch special. Fish was good, light and flacky, not too much batter. Chips were excellent. A bargain for $5.95!

It's fish & chips so don't bother ordering the 'healthy' dished. Nice light batter, fresh fish. Service is ole' fashioned, like being at your old auties house. Good fot he kind of Friday night, family meal.
