Food was okay but not extraordinary, just mediocre. I and my friend went here because review here was very good but only found out that it's one of typical small neighborhood Thai restaurant. Spring rolls and frog legs were okay but pad Thai has some rooms for improvement. Serving is very large just like other Chinese and Thai restaurants. Overall, average.
This is the best place to get Thai Food outside of Thailand. The Pad Thai is to die for and the spring rolls are incredible. Don't miss the vermicelli soup either! Amazing food, good service and the prices are excellent.
Ordered Pad Thai, crispy spring rolls and special fried rice. Everything was really tasty! I would definitely go back. Highly recommend the pad thai! The waitress was nice. Before going we've heard the service could be slow, but when we got there it wasn't bad. There were 4 other tables and timing about around 6PM as it got later the place started to fill out a bit more - Assuming that when it gets busy the service might be slower but all in all, the food was amazing and the price is great!
I used to eat here almost every friday and found all familiar faces each friday. Love the food ..the service is great..all of us at the office love the food and the atmosphere...
We have been going to this restaurant for a number of years now. The food is consistently excellent, and the portions are large. Amazing that this is probably the only Thai restaurant in the area with such high quality. The Cellophane noodles are delicious and you can ask them to make the dish spicy with or without chicken and shrimp. All dishes are fresh and we never sent anything back. Everyone in our family has a preferred dish, even our grandma, but no matter what we order, everything gets eaten. Even the leftovers. Highly rcommended. Too bad they are closed on Sunday.
This restaurant is a family favourite. The service can be slow even when you order in advance but the wait simply whets your appetite for the goodness that is to come. I grew up eating Thai food and this is about as authentic as it gets.
I’m the one who introduced this restaurant to my husband and friends. They all love it and they keep on coming back for more. The food is great and the price is so reasonable and affordable too. It get’s pretty packed during lunch hour and should hire more staff for the lunch. Yes, the service is a bit slow and there are also times that it’s not. It all depends on how busy they are. I personally love to eat here and I totally recommend this restaurant. If you had a bad experience the first time I would give it one more change. It is a family owned business but they should figure out ways to improve in area’s they are lacking. I think if they do that it would be even better! The Pad Thai is my favorite and the crispy spring rolls are mmmmm good try even the House fried rice, it’s good. My Husband and I love this place and is one of our favorite restaurants.
The food at Thai Bamboo is very predictable. I know that if I order the pad thai it will be tasty but on the oily side. All the meat dishes that are accompanied with vegetables are skimpy on the meat, heavy on the just cooked vegetables. A coworker was overwhelmed by the sauce on the black bean beef, something she will not order again but it could have tasted better if small portions were mixed with a lot of plain rice. Spring rolls and chicken wings are tasty. I like the wings because they are juicy and has a nice asian flavour to them. The coconut rice, I think, was on the menu and we assumed it would be an entree, but it rather was more like a dessert dish. We all tried it, 5 of us said we liked it, 4 did not like the taste of creamy coconut milk and gooey peanut sauce, and 1 didn't have the courage to try it. I think the coconut rice is for those that really enjoy the taste of rice pudding. To sum up, their food pleases the palate sufficiently, esp if you don't have any closer Thai restaurants nearby to try out. But as for the service, I wouldn't go back ever if I had an hour lunch break. Even take out wait times, especially when you order hours prior, is a horrible ordeal. We asked at the very beginning for our waitress to break the bill into 4 bills and she actually rolled her eyes, and walked away without saying a word, took the order of a different table, served food to another table, walked around the restaurant a few times and THEN came back to take our order. Not professional for the senior hostess of the restaurant. The service was so frustrating that our meal took 3.5 hours. A GOOD thing that our boss was NOT in that day. I'm always disappointed with the service to the point that I am surprised they still have loyal customers. It's consistent too at night, and I now prefer to go to the Japanese-Korean restaurant directly across the street. The owners of Thai Bamboo should know by now that they are a popular restaurant, the only real Thai-inspired place in the area, and yet they don't hire more staff during peak times.
I've been coming here for many years and have eaten at many Thai restaurants in Toronto and have been to Thailand three times. The Pad Thai is tasty but heavy on the oil. The fresh spring rolls are very good. The seafood curry is not bad. In general, I feel the food is average to pretty good. The menu is unfortunately limited although it has recently expanded a little. Compared to what you get in Thailand in a normal restaurant or in a steet food stall, this can't be compared. By far not as good at this restaurant. What is really unfortunate is the service. If they are busy, it can take forever for someone to come by to take your order. And when you are finished, it can take forever for someone to come by and give you the bill. They aren't the friendliest but given there is only two of them working the tables, it doesn't surprise me. I continue to come back only because there really isn't much of a selection of Thai restaurants in the area. And like I said, the food could be worse.
We have been visiting this restuarant for 10 years. I have never found another Thai restaurant that matches the quality or taste. This has become a favourite of ours.
The food is fantastic and what you get for your money is great. Although sometimes you have to wait for food if it's busy.
The restaurant atmosphere is pleasant, the washroom is clean, the waitresses are pleasant, the food is quite tasty and not over cooked at all. The price is affordable and very reasonable. However, the waiting period during lunch hour is quite long, they should have increase a part-time staff, especially on Friday. Tables are available, but not enough staff to clear them. Many times, my colleages and I could not wait and we would leave for another place. Over all, this restaurant is our favourite Thai place :)
Probably the best thai food in T.O. at a really affordable price. The fresh spring rolls are excellent, the crispy ones even better. Main dishes spiced to your liking. Portions were huge. We had to ask for 'take home' containers. Would definitely go again. The place gets really busy at lunch time. Make a reservation. The only thing not a '10' is service: they are extremely friendly and helpful, but a bit overwhelmed by the ratio of guests to servers.
Best Chicken coconut soup and salad. The dishes were ok, service could be better.
The food was excellent. For Thai, the portions were large and we were stuffed and took a take home package also. We did not hold back on orders and for a party of 6 to go home with a total bill of $100 incl. tax and tip, you could not have gotten better. The food was just well seasoned, not greasy at all for Thai. Sticky rice may have been a little 'too sticky' though. Service was slightly slow to begin with for starters, but then was great thereafter. The best of half a dozen Thai places I have been to in T.O. Highly recommned and will return
EXCELLENT! very authentic, friendly, accomodating and clean. I highly recommend it.
Food here is authentic and always delicious. One of our favourite office lunch destinations.
Fantastic food at a really amazing price. The fresh spring rolls are definitely the best in the city, and the tom yum soup was very good. Pad thai was good and the portion was huge especially for the price. Would definitely go again. This place gets really busy at lunch time so plan accordingly. It's a family run business so don't expect 'fast food' type service.
the waitresses were super friendly!!! service was great. the food came piping hot. the dishes were great. i would recommend the this to all my friends!!!
great restaurant. sauce for the rolls were amazing. servers were quick and attentive. would recomment
