Gracie Jane Generoux has always been passionate about art. It all started when she was a young girl who would secretly draw on her bedroom walls with felt markers. Eventually, her enthusiasm for portraits would evolve into a St. Albert business known for its colourful artwork.
Located in St. Albert’s Arts and Heritage District on Perron Street, A Boutique Bar By Gracie Jane is filled with celebrities and Albertans alike every night. Paintings, chairs, tables are all covered with the faces of some of Hollywood’s greats, such as Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor and Lucille Ball. All of the pieces are multimedia art featuring exciting colours infused with old jewellery, coins and other items that clients have brought in or have been collected by Gracie Jane over the years.
Many musicians are also featured prominently in the bar’s portraits, with Michael Jackson, Cher and Whitney Houston paintings decorating the walls. Also found in the bar are portraitures of some of Gracie Jane’s regular customers and staff. You just need to look closely.
“People in general inspire me,” says Gracie Jane. “I just love celebrities.”
