Walk into the Royal Caribbean Cafe on St Clair and it’s as though you’ve left the streets of Toronto and stepped into a laidback-yet-chic beach side restaurant in Jamaica, from where owner and chef, Ainsley Palmer hails. “The decor is modern and warm,” he says. “We have comfy orange and terracotta cushions and natural materials to give a beach feeling. It feels like summer in here!”
It’s the perfect setting for the authentic Caribbean food that Ainsley has served since 1996. “I’ve always focused on Caribbean food,” Ainsley explains. “The menu rarely changes, but I also make some creative twists to spice it all up. People always like something different and I love seeing satisfied customers.”
Whether it’s a tasty roti, serving of oxtail soup, vegetable curry and coconut stew on rice or a shrimp stir-fry, the dishes not only taste like home, but they’re also elegantly presented with plates that offer an explosion of colour.

It is not one of the best, it is the best I have ever been to unless there is another then, there are no competitors so far..
Very very bad service that’s all I have too say.
Came with this chick. She wanted to try it. It was pretty drab. The food was weird and greasy. The fly kept getting in the way. I have to say the cashier handled cash and then food and then cash and it was extremely unsanitary. Based on the atmosphere we drank minimally and left ASAP.
I live in the area of St Clair. W. I frequent all the restaurantes in the area and stumbled upon Royal Carribean Restaurante. It was a weds afternoon and ordered the fish soup and I have been going back there, every weds. Make sure you get there before 6p.m. cause there will be none left. That was 7 years ago. The brown stew snapper fish with tons of carrots and okra on rice and peas is mouth watering. It wasnt long before you see the owner Anisley poking his head out of the kitchen to say hi. Love the experience
My husband and I are of Jamaican decent. We recently discovered this place. We are in the St. Clair area most Saturdays and we look forward to visiting this restaurant whether it is to get the sweet potato pudding( my fav), a fish soup or a complete escovich fish meal. It is the most authentic tasting Jamaican restaurant around and we have been to almost all the Jamaican restaurants. Try something different each time you go it is worth it.
amazing food, service kind of slow, but worth the wait.
#1. You have to try different things on the menu to truly get a taste of the place. #2. This is the only place in the city where you can get a good roti and a great jerk chicken in the same place. #3. Best home made irish moss. Keeps your back strong and your endurance long.
totally over-rated. was this place reviewed by the owner's relatives? This is cafeteria class at best.
The best jerk chicken!! I lived two streets down from Royal and I would go there once a week. Perfect amount of spice, great portions and friendly people. I highly recommend!
I HAVE BEEN DINING AT THIS RESTAURANT SINCE IT OPENED AND TRAVEL FROM PICKERING JUST TO EAT DINNER THERE; BECAUSE THE FOOD IS DELICIOUS, THE SERVICE EXCEPTIONAL AND THE AMBIANCE IS VERY PEACEFUL.
Great location and ambience. If you are looking for home cook Jamaican food then this is definitely the place to go. This is one of the few places in Toronto where West Indian food is served for the health conscious
Servers were extremely courteous and the Restaurant was clean and tastefully decorated. The food came in a timely manner and was fantastic!!!
This was are first time, the food was amazing! My daughter is very picky, and for her to say "Mom, that was really good", I also appreciated that the chef personally came out to answer my questions, and accomidated my "wants". I would definatley recomend.
This is a fabulous restaurant for carribean food. The food has just the right spices and the signature dish (Royal Carribean Combo) is very good. I took my family there for my birthday. I highly recommend the Soup especially when you are not feeling well.
