Canadian photographer and fine artist, Christine Flynn, spent many years of her childhood picking antique furniture with her mother, an antique refinisher. The many discussions they would have around the potential for each piece and the love of refurbishing old gems helped shape not just her professional eye for art, but also her love of home furnishings and design. In fact, the duo had often talked about opening a store together — a space that could act as a gallery for Christine’s emerging art career and display her mother’s skill for picking great antiques.
When her mother passed away before the joint venture could be realized, Christine chose to honour her the only way that felt right — and Love The Design (LTD) was born. Opening its doors in Summerhill in 2013 after relocating from its Leslieville home, Love The Design is a beautiful and intricate boutique store with one-of-a-kind vintage home furnishings, accessories, and selections from Christine’s artwork.
