Founded in 1974, Herongate Barn Dinner Theatre is the oldest continuous-running dinner theatre in all of North America. Combining a sumptuous buffet with live theatre put on by its own production company, Herongate is a local Pickering treasure – and a treasure housed in a renovated barn to boot. Buffets and plays are offered five or six times per year, with a heaping dose of comedy served for dessert.
As soon as you step inside, you'll see the remnants of the dairy farm that was in operation a century before the barn was converted. Looking closer, you might even be able to spot a few signs of the old country club from years past. This family business has continued to grow stronger each year, and successfully draws people in from all over the province.
visited this establishment yesterday with a bus group from Belleville. Food, theatre and service was top notch as usual. We hope to come to a dinner and play on our own in the near future, and will be back with a bus trip this fall.
I have been attending this "best value in town" wonderful venue for over 30 years, several (2-4) times a year. I have NEVER not enjoyed either the dinner or the play. From the directing to the costumes to the actors, the plays are very entertaining, every time!!!!
