We went there for all you can eat dinner. The menu had a great selection of sushi which we were excited for however everything tasted old and tempura buts tasted soggy - very off. Definitely the worst sushi I have ever had and would never go back. Service was good but that's about it!
I went in for the AYCE lunch special. The staff was courteous and speedy. The place was full of young people, I'm assuming UOIT students. I stuck to the sushi offerings from the menu. They were small and didn't contain much fish, the fish was overwhelmed by the vegetables (cucumber and avocado) and the rice. Also, many contain simulated crab. The spicy mayo didn't add much flavour to the sushi pizza or rolls I tried. At least the fish tasted fresh.
outstanding...the food was incredible, very fresh, rolls were well put together and just a splendid assortment of items to choose from. The service was very good, they didn't miss one item of about 20 ordered off the all you can eat menu and they were quite pleasant compared to other Sushi restaurants I have visited. Atmosphere was also good, with a choice of open table or booth. I used to drive to Scarborough for good Sushi, I will no longer be making that trip. Well done to the ownership and staff at Tokushima!!!!
Our family goes to Tokushima several times a year. It's by far the best Japanese place in Oshawa, if not Durham Region. Why? Well...I love sushi, but not everyone in our family does. So Tokushima has over 100 food choices to make everyone happy. The food tastes incredible and it is beautifully presented. I read a couple of the negative comments on this website and had to wonder what in the world they were looking for. I agree with another poster that the sick child likely had the flu: if they really got food poisoning, they would have been much sicker and it would have lasted much longer. As for the other poster: you went to a SUSHI place and you're a VEGETARIAN? Where are you headed next, The Keg??? No wonder they didn't know what you were talking about. Go to a place that specializes in what you want to eat. It's like people who go to Swiss Chalet and want pizza or steak. Geez. As stated, the food is a true gastranomic and visual experience. The place is clean, simple yet stylish. There are always waiters available just by giving a quick wave. No, they don't start up a big conversation with you...but we love that. They're just there to provide you with what you need, not find out what you're up to that weekend. Also: the food is served very fast and very fresh. If you go to Tokushima, do so ONLY if you intend to get the all-you-can-eat menu. That's what this place is known for. All you can eat sushi, and wonderful varieties of hot dishes. In fact, when I first went, I was only going to have sushi. But when I tried some of the other things, I was amazed. That's why our whole extended family now goes there. Go there and get the little bacon wrapped appetizers...and a bunch of the cooked chicken dishes...and the tempura...and of course the sushi and rolls. Have fun!
I love this restaurant, the food is the best I have had in all the sushi restaurants in durham region. My better half and I go there at least 2 times a month. The servers do not speak english that well however I have never had an issue with any of them being anything but friendly with me. My boyfriend doesn't eat sushi and yet when we go there he always leaves full as they have so many other choices on the menu. I think it is funny how only people with bad reviews seem to post on these sites and make it look like the good restaurants (small ones that are not a chain) don't know what they are doing. I have eaten at this restaurant easily 30 times and have never had a bad experience and NEVER have I gotten sick from this food so I think the previous posters child had the flu.
This place is the best!! My mother and I eat there regularly... so much so in fact, that the staff know exactly what it is that we will order. :) For my 90 yo mother to eat anything other than meat and 2 veg, it just has to be good and the food is outstanding. All of the food is fresh and cooked to order so you may have to wait a little if the restaurant is extremely busy, but it will be well worth the wait. Go and try the food, you will not be disappointed. :) Love, LOVE, LOVE IT!!!!
Shortly before we moved to Oshawa I discovered Sushi. As a treat we went as a family to Tokushima. The food is absolutely amazing, which is why I simply enjoy eating there. The servers are friendly, though sometimes slow picking up orders, getting refills, orders do get mixed up at times, dishes forgotten etc, and the staff are quick to try to make things right. The decor isn't anything special and they are slow removing Christmas decorations. However I go there for GREAT SUSHI and as long as the table/dishes/cultery are clean, the staff polite and friendly we will keep coming back.
My wife and I are huge fans of Japanese. I've been to Japan so I know how it is supposed to taste. The service here, is sometimes forgetful and never very warm but they are efficient as a rule. Value for the money cmon it's all you can eat. We do this place for lunch. I have been to most of the AYCE Japanese places here in the region, this one ranks top 3.
What a completely horrible experince. The service was the worst ever -- they screwed up every single order and every single bill. They didn't have anything vegetarian on the menu (I've never had so much trouble explaining what vegetarian meant!). I asked if they could make a veggie stir fry, and every waiter, cook and manager in the place came out to ask me what I wanted. (I felt like I was asking for baked dinosaur or something equally bizarre). They seriously looked at me like I had two heads when I asked for stir fried veggies and tofu. Eventually I got a veggie stir fry that was pretty good. But it was a nightmare getting it. And other people I was with asked for things that they could only get at the buffet, i.e. they couldn't order them (but they didn't want the buffet). Throughout the meal, the staff repeatedly pushed their arms in our faces and over our meals while reaching for dirty plates or handing someone something. Then they proceeded to give everyone the wrong bill and charge bills to the wrong credit cards, etc. It was laughably bad.
