Service was amazing and fast the food was amazing I had the seafood platter and it was absolutely amazing I would come here again and again
Fillet mignon undercooked. Mixed vegetables overcooked like mush. Frozen mixed vegetables were the type you would buy in a grocery store frozen food section . The fish was pre-cooked. The pieces were thin flat breaded probably supplied by Serca or Findlay foods. The salad was excellent. The service average but no complaints. The price was much to expensive for the food we received.
Awfull service and even worse food. I could hear the cooks swearing in greek. Not what I want to hear on my birthday.
The Greek Isles has become our family's go to restaurant for events. The food is amazing, and their house wine served in the carafe is superb. I love the lamb shank and they way they do their potatoes is marvelous. We also always love their appetizer platter with great home made dips/spreads. My wife loves their deep fried cheese cake, but to be honest I am usually too full to be able to tackle this huge dessert.
The food is made with the kind of love that isn't seen often in todays eatery's. The owners take pride in the place and want people to know what food from their homeland is like. As for the tackiness of the place the scene have been painted by the owner from his childhood memories. He did them himself. Great place great food they take the time to tell you about the food, Take pride in their craft and want you to enjoy yourself. It isn't the most expensive place to eat but they don't rush you out so that they can fill it again.
love this place reasonable lunch menu..and dinner is an experience...great food /service but I warn you it's a bit of a wait for your food to get there cause it's cooked fresh. washrooms are immaculate, lots of parking and it won't leave you hungry or broke when you leave....my favourite restaurant in Kingston.
We are new to Kingston. We were looking for a restaurant that had good home cooking and this restaurant did that. Everything was very tasty, loved the atmosphere and the music. Will go back again. The pork gyro was different then we are use, the meat was chopped instead of ground but it was very tasty. Loved the roasted potatoes.
Amazing restaurant. Server was very nice and helpful. She helped us understand what some of the food was and made us feel very welcomed. We got the $50 meal, which was amazing, we kept trying to eat, but we were just to full. The atmosphere is a bit tacky, but still very cozy. Washrooms were very clean and in general one of my fav. restaurants. Heading there tonight!
This was our third visit to the Greek Islands. The music and decor still take a bit to get used to but the food is good, and the service is always excellent. We really enjoy our server Peter, who we try to get as our server when we visit the restaurant because he seems to know what he is doing and is very friendly and outgoing (one of the best servers we've ever come across at any restaurant) we really enjoy his service. The food is good, and priced alright. We will continue to visit the Greek Islands as long as the prices and food are up to par and our favorite waiter is scheduled.
This was our second visit here and it will definitely not be the last. My wife and I just love Greece and have visited the country many times. This is without a doubt the most authentic Greek restaurant we have found on this side of the Atlantic. The friendliness and service are second to none.
I went here on March 13th and had the Mousaka and it was amazing! Our waitress was Amanda, who was very attentive (without being annoying in any way) and was able to help me narrow down my choice from 3 to the great mousaka. The owners (? possibly management) also came to check on us to make sure we were satisfied etc. I really enjoyed the meal (especially the mousaka and the village salad)... which was about 16$ but the meal was so large I could have shared it with someone else! I also enjoyed the fireplace right next to us as well.
The restaurant is a little too greekly decorated, big food portions but very enjoyable meal and experience.
Pastitso is not supposed to taste like this.. it was gross and dry.. staff was slow, just bad over all
I have been to The Greek Islands several times (I live across the street)....the food is always hot and delicious, always friendly there and the atmosphere warm and the music is especially good...their desserts are to die for...the meals are very reasonable in price ... I will be back very soon!
Worst meal I have ever had in Kingston. The service was ok but the waitress forgot the beverages. The cypriot pasta dish was appalling - the pasta had been cooked earlier and had been reheated, and the sauce was pathetic. The sad sprinkling of dried pasley flakes on top just capped off its horribleness. I have cypriot inlaws so was very embarassed on their behalf that something so dreadful was being billed as being cypriot - cypriot food is the best! But not here.
this was the only restaurant that gave me what i wanted their is so much to choose from on the menu great prices awsome service very friendly and very clean i loved it, and will be back for more. never had such good in any other restaurant.
I was really surprised at that one negative comment, which prompted this review. This is our favourite restaurant and the food (except for the pitas and dip) is excellent and very Greek tasting. We always look forward to the leftovers for the next couple of days. If you communicate how well-done (or not) to prepare the food you can't help but be pleased. We have hosted a party of 16 here and everyone was incredulous at the quality of the food (and yes they all left with leftovers too). If you want sedate decor, elevator music, and portion control by a pretentious "chef" go somewhere else. Here, you know you're out of mainstream at a banquet, whether for 2 or 50, and you might just end up chatting with the owner or his wife. Oh, they have a great retsina wine. Only wish, if they had live Greek musicians and dancers this place would be even more of a hot spot. Note to the owners: we'll be back soon. Right now we are on a serious diet and would not be able to resist the aromas from the kitchen. maria and keld
Always good food. Server was very polite and curtious. Went above and beyond expectations. Don't judge the other comments until you go there. Yes the decor is tacky same with the music however the prices are fair. Have not heard a negative comment ever about the place. Many of my friends and family are regulars. You can dine for two for 50.00 and take it home and have enough to eat for the next two days.
This was the second time I visited this restaurant and it will be the last. The shrimp was so overcooked you couldnt get the shell off. The server was horrible we kept having to ask for what we ordered. The menu is also terribly over priced. This place is not worth the effort.
Surprisingly good food at a decent price. it is a chain-esque place, and the decorations/look/feel/music is a bit tacky, but otherwise the service was good (the girl was young and new but really did a decent job for a newbie) and the food was flavourful. Not overcooked like most Greek food. Potats were very tender. We went on a lark for a laugh and were surprised it was very satisfying.
